Dark circles are not discriminatory, we all struggle with them from time to time. Just because they are inevitable doesn’t mean we have to accept them or embrace them. We are going to show you how to cover up dark circles under eyes!

What causes dark circles under your eyes?

There are a few reasons why you may be struggling with dark circles under your eyes.

  • poor sleeping habits
  • allergies
  • hyperpigmentation
  • thinning skin under the eyes
  • anemia
  • overexposure to sunlight
  • frequent rubbing of the eyes
  • aging
  • smoking
  • dehydration
  • dermatitis

Some of these are as a result of our busy lifestyles and could easily be fixed but while you are changing your bad lifestyle habits you are going to want to cover up those dark patches.

Moisturizing is so important, not just when you have dark circles. In fact, moisturizing should be a part of your daily skin-care routine. When you are applying your moisturizer make sure that you pay specific attention to the area under your eyes. Many of us probably don’t apply enough moisturizer to your eye area. As you apply the cream, take a few minutes to gently massage the area. Not only will this help to hydrate your skin but it will also make your makeup application easier.

Color correct

If the circles under your eyes are really dark you might want to consider using color correction. For this to work, you need to first establish what your skin tone is and then find the correct color correction tone. This is generally the exact opposite color of your dark circles. Don’t apply too much color correcting concealer because you will still be applying your regular concealer.

Concealer is essential

Spend some time picking out your concealer to make sure it is the right color. When you find the right concealer for you, your life will forever be changed. If you are trying to cover darkness, you might need a slightly thicker product that is slightly lighter than your regular one.

When you are ready to apply your concealer, make a triangle under your eyes, this helps to enhance the brightness.

Set your under eye

Setting your under eye is important because it ensures your concealer will last all day and it prevents creasing. You apply this step by lightly brushing translucent powder under your eyes, apply it gently as your eyes are sensitive.

Set with a spray

If you haven’t used a setting spray yet, give it a try. The spray helps to keep the concealer locked into place and removes the powdery look from the previous steps.
