How to the get the perfect eyebrow shape

Do you shape your eyebrows, regularly or are you too scared to try it yourself so avoid it or pay someone else to do it?

The struggle is real and no one wants to end up as a meme on Facebook with their badly shaped brows! The good news is that you can, with a little practice, get the perfect set of eyebrows! Let’s help you figure out how to get the perfect eyebrow shape.

Are your brows thick enough?

Before grabbing your tweezers, check to see if your eyebrows are thick enough to pluck and shape nicely. Don’t stress if they aren’t because you can still shape them a little while they grow.

TopTip: Massage your eyebrows with some olive or almond oil to help stimulate growth.

Know your face shape

If you have tried out some shaping styles before and they haven’t worked it could be because you haven’t considered your face shape.

Round-shaped face: Create a high arch that has straight lines leading to the peak. Avoid a rounded brow shape as this will only make your face look rounder.

Square-shaped face: Try out a curved brow shape or a softer shape. Avoid thin, short shapes.

Heart-shaped face: Opt for a rounder, low arch brow shape to create a natural look. Avoid a high arched shape.

Oval-shaped face: You want to choose a flat and soft-angled eyebrow shape, one that goes straight up and curves gently at the top.

Shaping the brows

We are fans of the pencil method where you identify the 3 points of your brow you will be using with a pencil.

Step 1: Place the pencil alongside your nose, this forms the inside point of your brow.

Step 2: Place the pencil along your nose and across your pupil, this is the mid-point of the eyebrow.

Step 3: Move your pencil until the end of your nostril and the edge of your eye are in line.

Pluck the perfect set of eyebrows

Once you know your face shape and have determined the 3 points, you can start the practical part of shaping your eyebrows.

These are a few tips when it comes to plucking

  • Make sure you have enough light.
  • Buy a proper pair of good quality tweezers
  • Rub an ice cube over your brows before plucking. It will reduce swelling and redness.
  • Pluck a little bit, then check to see if you need to pluck more. Go slow.
  • Comb your eyebrows and trim any hairs sticking out.

Filling in your eyebrows

You have plucked your brows and now you need to fill your brows. This can be the most challenging part and often where people get overwhelmed. It really isn’t that bad once you know the tips and tricks of the trade.

The point of filling is to make your eyebrows look thicker and more natural. Your eyebrow colour should be as close to your hair colour as possible, if they are lighter you might want to dye them or colour them.

A brow pencil will help you create a more natural look and cover up any thin patches or areas you may have. For thicker brows use eyebrow powder. You can also use a brow mascara which can add even more thickness to your brows.

Whether you are using your pencil, powder or a mascara, these tips will help you;

  • Lightly brush your brow hairs with an eyebrow brush, line the bottom curve and cover up any spots where there isn’t any hair.
  • Outline the top and bottom edges being careful not to apply too much colour near the bridge of your nose.
  • For a more defined brow look, add a few drops of your concealer to your eyelid, blend and apply some highlighter under the brow. How to get the perfect eyebrow shape | Burst Makeup Brushes
